The Ljubljana Arbitration Centre (LAC) has signed the Equal Representation in Arbitration Pledge, an initiative set to increase, on an equal opportunity basis, the number of women appointed as arbitrators in order to achieve a fair representation as soon practically possible, with the ultimate goal of full parity.

The general objectives of the Pledge are:

• to improve the profile and representation of women in arbitration; and

• to appoint women as arbitrators on an equal opportunity basis.

"Over 1200 organisations and prominent members of the international arbitration community have already signed the Pledge and the number is rising on a daily basis. At the LAC, we are proud to support this important initiative, which is in line with our long-term strategy to increase diversity in all its forms in the field of arbitration. The LAC is committed to improving the profile and representation of women in arbitration in Slovenia and the region. In 2014, the overall percentage of female arbitrators in LAC administered proceedings was 29% and the number increased to 42% in 2015. The LAC is the first arbitral institution in the ex-Yu region to pledge support for equal representation of women in Arbitration said Secretary General of the LAC Marko Djinovic.”
